FESTO

FESTO is a festival of music and culture organised by the French Young Esperantists Association (JEFO). It takes place every August in Western Europe, and brings together people of all ages and nationalities around a shared love of music, exchange, and a dream of a world without borders.

If Esperanto is an international language, music is an international taste, and FESTO unites the two, with both local and Esperanto-speaking music groups taking part.

But FESTO isn’t just concerts: during the day there is a wide range of workshops – musical, artistic, sporting, cultural, linguistic – as well as cultural and touristic excursions.

Come the night, the programme includes a discotheque, bar and chill-out room (this year next to a campfire) – the favourite places to enjoy, chat, and put the world to rights.

This year, in 2014, FESTO will bring together the Esperantist, vegan, and Occitan movements. Participants are promised a culturally enriching exchange, and some may even consider themselves members of all three movements by the end of the week!

So: rendez-vous in Pont-de-Barret in Drome (France, département 26) from 16th to 23rd August 2014.
